back...Central Celebrations of the Day of the Polish Children of War
Director of the Museum of Polish Children – victims of totalitarianism, dr Ireneusz Maj took part in the two-day Central Celebrations of the Day of the Polish Children of War, a celebration of the 50thanniversary of Stowarzyszenie Dzieci Wojny [the Children of War Association] in Poland.
Today, at the Broken Heart Monument to the Martyrdom of Children in in the Szare Szeregi [Gray Ranks] Park in Łódź, the Museum Director gave a historical overview of the activities of the Nazi German concentration camp for Polish children on Przemysłowa Street and laid flowers at the “Broken Heart Monument”.
As he pointed out in his speech: “One should be aware that for the Germans, the fault of these children was primarily that their nationality was Polish (...) The very idea of creating a concentration camp specifically for children is unprecedented in the world.”
