The art contest for a New Year card with good wishes for the former prisoners of the concentration camp on Przemysłowa Street has been closed and the winners have been picked. The event was held under the patronage of the Ombudsman for Children and the Board of Education in Łódź.

The contest jury consisting of: Michał Hankiewicz (head of the jury), dr Marcin Mielczarek from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Patrycja Czyszpak-Pawlak, dr Jakub Parol and Jolanta Sowińska-Gogacz, appreciated the high level of artistry and unique concepts of the submitted works. Each card had to meet the following two conditions: it had to feature a child’s face motif from the Museum’s logo and it had to be created using only manual techniques.

Out of the many submitted works, the jury decided that the first place would go to the artwork prepared by Zofia Stępień. The card created by Lena Staniewicz took the second place. The jury also awarded two equal distinctions, which went to Nadia Sobiczewska and Jakub Lubaniak.

We would like to thank all students who participated in the art contest and remember the former prisoners of the German Nazi Concentration Camp for Polish Children on Przemysłowa Street. We do believe this small gesture will deeply touch all the Survivors.
